The mission of the Library Media Center is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of information and ideas. The Library Media Center provides a comprehensive collection of resources to support the curriculum, to promote an appreciation of reading, and to develop information literacy skills. Additionally, the Library Media Specialists work collaboratively with teachers to develop projects that reinforce these skills.

• Independently develop the topic, problem or question to be researched
• Identify and develop criteria to select and prioritize sources
• Use effective searches for print and electronic sources
• Develop and use criteria to analyze quality of information
• Select information appropriate to the question or problem
• Select and develop the most effective form of presentation
• Demonstrate awareness of ethical use of information, using appropriate citations, adherence to copyright, and recognition of intellectual property rights

Audio-visual resources include:

• Music CD-ROMs
• Laser Disk programs

Computers:

• The Library Media Center provides 30 computers for searching the library catalog, searching online databases, accessing the Internet, and using software programs such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft FrontPage, Adobe PageMaker and Adobe Photoshop.

The Library Media Center coordinates the equipment used in the building. This equipment includes:

• Video and digital cameras
• Video and data projectors
• Overhead projectors
• Televisions
• VCR and DVD players
• Laser disk players
• CD players
• Cassette players
• Laminating machine
• Lettering machine
• Satellite downlink facility
• Distance Learning equipment
